Fascial Stretch Therapy Oakville
What is fascial stretch therapy (FST)?
Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is a pain-free assisted stretching technique that assesses and treats the restrictions in the body to improve performance, prevent injury and reduce pain. The goal is to optimize your flexibility, mobility, and strength by focusing on stretching the fascia and joint capsules in the body. FST stretching focuses on the entire body and not just isolated muscles. We are pleased to have therapists at OAK Physio and Wellness that are able to offer FST to clients and help restore function and achieve their movement goals.

What is fascia and joint capsule?
If you have ever heard “everything in your body is connected”, one of the main key elements in that connection is Fascia. Fascia is the connective tissue system of the body that penetrates through and wraps around muscles, nerves, organs and just about everything else in your body. Joint capsule is another connective tissue that surrounds freely moveable joints in your body and is responsible for keeping the joint lubricated, providing nutrients and shock absorption.

What happens if the fascia or joint capsule become restricted?
- Increase muscle tightness leading to trigger points, reduced flexibility and mobility
- Decreased joint space leading to reduced range of motion of the joints and increased tension on the muscles and surrounding tissues
- Decreased blood flow and suboptimal tissue recovery, performance and energy
- And much more…

Emilly Velasco
FASCIAL STRETCH THERAPIST
Emilly first discovered Fascial Stretch Therapy while she was teaching a yoga class and saw that someone at the studio was having a stretch session. It immediately sparked her curiosity as it looked like something she could benefit from. She booked a stretch session and instantly loved how her body felt afterwards; Emilly felt an increase in my range of motion and felt more aligned in her body. Since obtaining her FST certification, she loves that she is able to help others to feel better and move more freely in their bodies.
