Your physiotherapy session will include hands-on treatment consisting of myofascial stretching, joint mobilization and manipulation, tissue mobilization and other manual therapy techniques and methods to ensure you are moving freely. Your physiotherapy session will include personalized corrective exercises. The goal of these exercises is to alleviate pain and discomfort, increase and optimize your range of motion and prevent future injuries. If you have chronic conditions, corrective exercises can help reduce the frequency at which you experience symptoms or the severity of your condition. If you are experiencing pain, your physiotherapist at OAK Physio & Wellness can work with you on pain management techniques. The techniques will address the pain as well as root cause. These pain management techniques can be used at home to reduce the severity and frequency of your pain and help you move better.

At OAK Physio & Wellness our practitioners and therapists come from one of four licensed professional backgrounds: either physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage therapy, or naturopathic medicine. Our approach is backed by the latest science and evidence therefore our treaters also go through extensive internal training on the OAK approach when they join our team. We also encourage and support our team members to continue to grow their skills and expertise.
Your initial assessment and treatment takes approximately one hour. Follow up visits vary in length from 15 to 60 minutes depending on a variety of factors.
At OAK Physio & Wellness your expert therapist will first work with you to understand your potential concerns and your goals and objectives for treatment. In order to have a thorough understanding of your current baseline, your healthcare provider will review all necessary medical background (i.e. doctors notes, laboratory results and imaging) and assess your posture and how you move. This complete assessment will help our team identify the root cause of any discomfort you may be experiencing. Your physiotherapist will then work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan leveraging the integrated treatment approach at OAK Physio & Wellness. Our physiotherapists will empower you with the education and knowledge you require to take an active role in your treatment. The treatment plan developed by our expert therapists is designed for your needs whether reducing pain, preventing injury, adjusting posture, optimizing movement or ensuring your overall well-being. As your treatment continues you will receive continual reassessment For your initial consultation please plan to arrive 10 minutes before the start of your appointment to complete your new patient paperwork.
Your OAK therapist will provide you with your treatment plan during your initial consultation which will outline the frequency and duration of treatment. Every individual varies depending on their treatment plan however the frequency is generally higher during the first few weeks of the plan. The total number of sessions can vary from 4-20 depending on your needs or severity of injuries.
Our therapists are licensed physiotherapists, chiropractors, and registered massage therapists and we work with most major health insurance providers, workers’ compensation claims, Motor Vehicle claims and personal injury cases. Please check with your insurance provider to see if a doctor’s referral letter is required before you book your session. Every policy is different so you will need to check with your insurance policy regarding the amount and frequency of coverage you are entitled for.
Yes, some insurance providers allow us to direct bill for physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage services.
Per our cancellation policy, if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment we require 24 hours advance notice. If you cancel or change your session within 24 hours, we will process a cancellation fee.
Yes, we accept Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) cases and Workplace injury (WSIB) cases. For MVA cases, at the time of booking, we require your claim and policy number, name of your adjudicator and your auto insurance company. For WSIB you are required to complete a WSIB claim with your employer immediately. When your claim is approved for physiotherapy, you are welcome to make an appointment for an initial consultation. At the time of booking, we require your claim number, name of your adjudicator and employer.
You do not need a referral or requisition to be treated by our OAK therapists. Some private insurance companies do require a doctor/physician’s referral for either physiotherapy, chiropractic or massage therapy reimbursement. Please check with your private insurer on the details of your coverage plan.
Yes, you have the right to chose which clinic you go to as long as the providers are licensed and registered practitioners. Our therapists are licensed physiotherapists, chiropractors, and registered massage therapists and we work with most major health insurance providers, workers’ compensation claims, Motor Vehicle claims and personal injury cases.
