welcome to Oak physio and Wellness
At OAK Physio & Wellness, acupuncture is performed by our trained and certified acupuncturist or chiropractors.
You will lie down either on your stomach or back, depending on the affected area that requires acupuncture treatments.
During your acupuncture treatment, small thin needles will be inserted into several pressure points in the affected area. In addition to promoting circulation, the needles help to reduce the sensitivity of the surrounding nerves. This helps to relieve pain and release tension in the affected area.
Acupuncture treatment has been used to treat a variety of conditions. At OAK Physio & Wellness acupuncture can be combined with other treatments to ensure you are achieving the goals of your treatment plan.
Some of the injuries or conditions that acupuncture can be used for include:

FAQ’S
Acupuncture is a traditional healing practice that originated in ancient China. It involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow and promote natural healing. These points, called acupuncture points or acupoints, are located along pathways known as meridians, which are believed to carry vital energy throughout the body.
The mechanism of how acupuncture works is based on the relationship between nerves and the special pressure points in the body. These acupuncture-specific pressure points tend to have a lower electrical charge than nerve endings. When needles are inserted into them, these electrical charges then reduce the sensitivity of the nerve endings, thereby reducing the pain and discomfort.
Yes, acupuncture is generally safe when performed by a licensed and trained practitioner. The needles are sterile, single-use, and designed to minimize discomfort.
At OAK Physio & Wellness, acupuncture treatment and services can be used alone or combined with other treatment options depending on your unique treatment plan. Acupuncture can be combined with massage therapy, chiropractic care and physiotherapy treatment.
Acupuncture needles are extremely thin, and most people feel little to no pain. Some experience a slight tingling or mild pressure during treatment.
On your first appointment, our expert therapist will assess your condition, review your health history and develop a complete treatment plan. Schedule your first visit to begin your journey to recovery and discover what sets us apart.
