Q & A With Yumi
What qualifications and certifications do you have?
Diploma in Massage Therapy (RMT)
What are your areas of speciality?
Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage.
What is your approach to treatment?
I use a hands-on approach to the treatments I provide. I use different massage techiniques, dynamic stretches and hydrotherapy (heat and cold packs) to maniputale the soft tissues of the body
What techniques and modalities do you use in your treatment?
Swedish Massage also called “classic massage,” is the root and main type of massage therapy treatment. From here, it branches out to other types of massage treatments. It utilizes a variety of massage techniques, including: long, gliding strokes, kneading, lifting and pressing muscles. Deep tissue includes the same approach, plus deeper pressure applied (it can be contraindicated depending on the patient’s condition, but the pressure used for the massage treatment is always disscussed beforehand). Trigger point is another word for “knots”, Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy focus is to release the muscle tension also known as “knots”. Last but not least, Lymphatic Drainage is a form of gentle massage that encourages the drainage of lymph nodes and movement of lymph fluids around the body. It can help relieve lymphedema.
Do you work with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care?
Yes! I work with a variety of specialized individuals throughout the clinic to help patients achieve their health goals
